Portal to hell in CVS

This CVS location contains what many believe to be a “portal to hell.” The spot is said to be haunted by a former employee who drowned in a nearby pond.

On a chilly, foggy morning in December 2009, we made our way to the unassuming parking lot of the CVS in the small town of Port Washington, N.Y. The store was open and we had a reason to be there.

The CVS in Port Washington was the scene of a bizarre, gruesome murder in 1978, when a former employee, Thomas J. Leonard, was found dead in the store’s loading dock. The case remains unsolved to this day.

The location is said to be haunted by the man who was found dead in the loading dock, which has been closed to the public since the murder.

We were told by a clerk at the CVS that the building was the scene of a gruesome murder. We walked inside and found the store closed and locked. There was no one around.

“There’s a lot of paranormal activity here,” the clerk told us. “A lot of people have seen things.”
